Adrian consulted on NAB’s digital assets work with Zodia Custody, connecting product strategy and user experience with crypto expertise and technical due diligence.

The challenge

Institutional digital assets bring together unfamiliar technology and familiar expectations: clear information, understandable actions and confidence in how a service works. The challenge was to consider the customer experience alongside the technology needed to support it.

The approach

Adrian worked across the strategic, design and technical sides of the engagement. His contribution helped connect the product proposition to user needs, while keeping discussions grounded in the capabilities and constraints of the underlying technology. He collaborated with the wider team, bringing a design and engineering perspective to the same product questions.

Product & service strategy

Adrian contributed to product direction and service design, helping translate a broad digital assets opportunity into a more understandable customer proposition. Service mapping provided a way to consider the experience as a whole and connect product discussions with the needs of the people using it.

User experience

His UX contribution focused on making complex financial concepts easier to understand and navigate. He supported the design team in considering how information, customer journeys and interactions fit together, with attention to the relationship between the interface and the services behind it.

Crypto expertise

Adrian brought crypto and Web3 knowledge into strategy and design conversations. He helped the team work through the implications of digital asset technologies for the user experience, connecting specialist concepts with the product decisions designers and business stakeholders needed to make.

Technical due diligence

Alongside the product and design work, Adrian contributed to technical due diligence. His role connected questions about platform capabilities and integration with the intended customer experience, helping bridge discussions between business, design and technical specialists.

Public context

In October 2023, Zodia Custody publicly announced its Australian launch and the SAF3 platform. The announcement described a proof of concept with NAB that tested integration and compliance capabilities, technology and governance processes. This provides the public context for the engagement; the case study describes Adrian’s advisory contribution within the wider team.
